What is Invisalign®?

The Invisalign® orthodontic system is used to treat misaligned teeth by gradually moving them into place using a series of clear, removable aligners which are practically invisible. This means patients can show off their smiles during treatment, instead of having to wait until the braces come off. Proven to be effective, Invisalign® aligners are designed using 3-D imaging technology, so no messy impressions are needed.

What are the benefits of Invisalign®?

Unlike braces, Invisalign® is both nearly invisible and removable. This allows patients to eat and drink whatever they want during treatment. Patients also don’t have to deal with awkward, special equipment being in the way when brushing and flossing teeth. Invisalign® aligners are the most comfortable teeth straightening option. Since these aligners don’t have brackets and wires, the irritation to the cheeks and gums isn’t experienced when using the Invisalign® system. Without metal or wires, patients will also spend less time in the doctor’s office getting adjustments. Invisalign® treatment also allows patients to see an image of the result by viewing their virtual treatment plan before they even begin the straightening process.

How does Invisalign work®?

Removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss, patients wear each set of clear aligners for roughly two weeks and then change out for a new set. Patients teeth will move a little at a time as they replace each aligner with the next in the series until teeth have been moved to their final, correct position. Approximately once every six weeks, patients will come into the office to ensure that the treatment is progressing as it should. Invisalign® treatment takes about nine to 15 months. Most patients will wear between 18 and 30 clear aligners during treatment. However, this will be different for each patient. Invisalign® can be the best option for many people.
